Adults on Mission
Overview
for language congregations
"For we are laborers together with God (1 Corinthians 3:9 KJV).
This is a special verse for Womans Missionary Union®. We call it
our permanent watchword. It explains that all we do is possible only as we work together
with God.
What is Adults on Mission?
Adults on MissionSM is the organization of WMU® for men and women 18 years of age and older. It is for churches where learning about and taking part in missions is done best through an organization for both men and women.
Members of Adults on Mission focus on these six tasks of WMU:
- learn about missions
- pray for missions
- support missions
- do missions and witness
- develop spiritually toward a missions lifestyle
- participate in the work of the church and the denomination
Who can be a member of Adults on Mission?
Any adult can be a member even if he/she is not a member of your church.
When do Adults on Mission meet?
Adults on Mission meet on a regular basis, with members deciding the best day and time.
How is Adults on Mission organized?
Adults form teams of two or more members. The teams are formed around common interests, ages in life, or projects. Teams should relate in some way to one of the six tasks of WMU. Teams usually last for one year unless their members decide to continue an ongoing ministry and want to continue to work together.
Who leads Adults on Mission?
Each team needs a team leader. If there is more than one team, a coordinator for Adults on Mission would be a good choice. These team leaders and the coordinator serve with the WMU director and other WMU leaders to form a WMU leadership team in the church.
