"For we are laborers together with God” (1 Corinthians 3:9a KJV).

This is a special verse for Woman’s Missionary Union.® We call it our permanent watchword. It explains that all we do is possible only as we work together with God.

What is Adults on MissionSM?
Adults on Mission is the organization of Woman’s Missionary Union for men and women 18 years of age and older. It is for churches where learning about and taking part in missions is done best through an organization for both men and women.
Adults on Mission focuses on (pays special attention to) spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Each of the missions goals of Adults on Mission is based on what the Bible tells us to do. Adults on Mission leads men and women to do these things:
• pray for and give to missions
• do missions
• learn about missions
• develop spiritually toward a missions lifestyle
• take part in the work of the church and the denomination

How can Adults on Mission help a church fulfill its missions purpose?
Men and women take part in Adults on Mission in teams or as individuals. Each church decides which Adults on Mission teams they will have and how they will do their work. Opportunities for teams include:
ministry teams that are involved in ministry and witnessing in the community. These teams also take part in missions learning and praying.
prayer teams that give prayer support for ministry teams, missionaries, and missions work.
global encounter teams that focus on current missions in the world, and also include praying, ministering, and witnessing.
missions enrichment teams that explore the biblical basis of missions and current missions, and also include missions praying, ministry, and witnessing.
personal ministry, in which women and men participate individually in missions praying, giving, ministering, and witnessing.
Teams and individuals take part in ministry projects, missions learning, and praying. The teams minister and witness in the community. Each team may minister in a different way.
Every four months, teams and personal ministry individuals meet together to learn about missions. This is called Missions Crossroads.
Once each year everyone meets for a time called Missions Milestone. During this time, members celebrate what has happened in missions during the past months. They may also give special recognition to members.

Who are the leaders in Adults on Mission?
Each team has a team leader to encourage and direct the work. When a church has more than one team, an Adults on Mission coordinator helps the teams to work with other WMU® organizations.
All the team leaders and the coordinator form the Adults on Mission leadership team for the church. This group plans activities that involve more than one team. It also helps to begin new teams.

Where can we find help organizing Adults on Mission in our church?
Contact your associational director of missions or associational WMU director to find someone who can help. Training meetings may be available in your association or state. These training meetings will help you to learn ways that Adults on Mission in your church can carry out the purposes of WMU. They will also help you to meet other Adults on Mission members to share ideas.

Things to Remember:
•You do not have to do everything mentioned in this overview.
•You do not need a large group of adults to have Adults on Mission.
•You do need to decide which teams are best for your church.
•You do need to pray for God’s leadership as you plan for the growth and ministry of your church in your community, across the nation, and around the world.
