What is Acteens?

Acteens® is the WMU® missions organization for girls in grades 7-12. In Acteens, teenage girls have opportunities to grow in their relationship with God and with their peers. They become actively involved in missions and ministry. Acteens helps students grow in their commitment to Christ. It helps them learn that they can be a part of God's work in the world.

Acteens helps teenage girls do the heart tasks of WMU:

  • learn about missions
  • pray for missions
  • support missions
  • do missions and witness
  • develop spiritually towards a missions lifestyle
  • participate in the work of the church and the denomination
Acteens provides a dynamic way for teenage girls to become the young women that God plans for them to be.

Who can be a member of Acteens?

Any girl in grades 7-12 can be a member of Acteens. A girl does not have to be a member of the church to be in Acteens. She does not have to be a Christian to participate in Acteens. Hopefully, participation in Acteens will lead her to accept Christ as Savior.

How are Acteens organized?

Acteens are organized in small groups. They may be organized according to age, grade in school, or simply in two groups, Younger Acteens and Older Acteens. The needs of the church, the number of teenage girls, and the number of leaders will determine what kind of groups are formed for Acteens.

Who leads Acteens?

Acteens are led by Acteens leaders and Acteens members. Every group must have an adult leader, but members, according to their maturity and abilities, may also lead some of the activities.

Acteens leaders should have the following characteristics:

  • love for God and for students
  • active as a church member
  • living a missions lifestyle
  • patience
  • openness to ideas
  • willingness to allow girls to do their own work and to share their ideas
  • a desire for girls to discover God's call in their lives
  • ready to lead girls to discover biblical truths and their place in God's kingdom
Things to remember:

•You do not need a lot of teenage girls to have Acteens. One girl and one leader can form a group.
•You do not need a lot of money to begin Acteens.
•You do need to pray and continually seek God's will.
