Christmas in August 2009
It’s already Christmas again! Every August, Southern Baptist churches collect and send specific items for missionaries to use in their ministries. Invite your whole church to have a part in this project!
- Pray and choose your missionary for Christmas in August. (Two missionaries and their lists are shown below.)
- Tell everyone about the project. Give them a list of items (see below), and tell them where and when to bring the gifts.
- Send only the items that are on the list. Send only new items. You don’t need to include everything that is on the list, because other churches will send items, also.
- Write your church’s address on a postcard, and put a postage stamp on it. Put it in the box that you send to the missionary. The missionary can use the postcard to let you know that he has received your gift.
- Take the box (or boxes) to the post office; use the exact postage needed.
- Pray for the missionary, his ministry, and the people he serves.
Greg and Alice Whitetree work in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, deep in Appalachia. They serve among coal mining families and other mountaineers. Their ministries include a benevolence ministry with a clothes closet and food pantry; Vacation Bible Schools, sports camps, and other children’s clubs and activities; basketball and other activities in the Baptist Center’s gym; and home repair projects. Through all of this, they seek to share the message of Christ. They have been missionaries since 1970. "Thank you for including this ministry this year."
